The Fancy Whiskey Cocktail is one of the original classic cocktails. Originally made with probably either bourbon or rye whiskey, feel free to substitute your favorite brand and style of whiskey with this recipe. Jameson Irish whiskey works particularly well in this cocktail and Chivas Regal blended Scotch whisky also mixes well. Even single malt scotch would work, try Aberlour or the Glenlivet. No matter which whiskey you choose, this is a great way to explore cocktail history and a delicious cocktail to boot.
Yield: 1 cocktail
Ingredients:
- 2 oz whiskey
- 1/4-1/2 gomme syrup or rich simple syrup
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1/4-1/2 oz Grand Marnier
- lemon twist garnish
Preparation:
- Add all ingredients to a mixing glass.
- Add ice.
- Stir until chilled.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Express lemon twist over the surface of the cocktail.
- Serve
