Leading up to doomsday, the end of the Mayan calendar, or whatever catastrophe may or may not lead to the end of the world as we know it, it's always good to have a little fun. And why not, if the world is coming to an end, shouldn't we enjoy the last moments we have? Well, that is the purpose of this tasty punch that will also be served at a number of the U.S. Renaissance Hotels leading up to December 21, 2012.
It is a great punch that will be great for any occasion should we survive doomsday and it is made to prepared and bottled, making a comforting drink for two to share (though you could easily make a larger batch). The white whiskey from Death's Door is one of the smoother white dog options available to date and when it is mixed in the fruity punch you will not even miss the barrel time that it lacks.
Two other ingredient notes need to be made. Stirrings makes a great blood orange bitters, though in a pinch any orange bitters will suffice as a substitute. Then, for the falernum, I recommend Dale De Groff's Velvet Falernum or make your own using this recipe at Kaiser Penguin. bitters - stirring falernum - degroff
