Glass Guide- Old-fashioned Glass

I created this drink on a chilly winter night with a mission of finding a divine pairing for Dark Chocolate Truffles. The combination of a dark bourbon and pomegranate juice with the citrus of orange and lime is quite tasty and the topping of ginger ale turns it into a refreshing lowball. PAMA can be used in place of the juice and as far as the orange liqueur goes, I highly recommend the illuminating white spirit, L'Combier, which is newly available in the US.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz bourbon
  • 1/2 oz pomegranate juice
  • 1/2 oz orange liqueur
  • juice of half a lime
  • 2 dashes Angostura aromatic bitters
  • Ginger ale to fill
  • orange wheel for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Build the liquors, juices and bitters in a lowball glass filled with ice.
  2. Stir well.
  3. Top with ginger ale.
  4. Garnish with an orange wheel.
