The Creole Cocktail is another timeless favorite I came across in the 1939 edition of W.C. Whitfield's Just Cocktails. The ratio is similar to that original recipe, with a few tweaks and some adjustment to get the quantity up to a modern sized cocktail. With the bourbon and vermouth one would think it is like a Manhattan, which it is, but it is the Benedictine that sets the Creole Cocktail apart, bringing in an herbal sweetness that takes the taste to a different level.
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 oz bourbon
- 1 oz sweet vermouth
- splash Benedictine
- splash maraschino liqueur
- lemon twist for garnish
Preparation:
- Pour the ingredients into a mixing glass with ice cubes.
- Stir well.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Garnish with the lemon twist.
