Portland Oregon based craft distillers New Deal Distillery are known for their lineup of vodkas such as New Deal, Portland 88 and Hot Monkey. However, New Deal also makes Mud Puddle chocolate, a dry liquor that has cacao added in the distillation process. The result is a complex yet subtle liquor with a pronounced cocoa flavor and hints of cherry, nutmeg and pasilla pepper. They've paired this with a bit of sweet bourbon to create their David Bowie cocktail. In their words, this cocktail is "totally after Space Oddity but definitely before Ziggy Stardust". All I know is that this cocktail is a winner in my book.

Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 oz New Deal Mud Puddle chocolate liquor
- 1/2 oz bourbon (choose a sweeter bourbon like Four Roses)
- orange wedge, for garnish

- In an old fashioned glass, pour first two ingredients.>
