Low Calorie Whiskey Sour

By Colleen Graham, About.com

This Whiskey Sour recipe comes from a friend who adapted it from the original to contain less sugar and therefore, fewer calories. I, nor he, do not make any claims that this drink is "healthier" - it is merely made up of ingredients which those brands market that way. What he has done is substitute sugar syrup with Splenda and opted for a taller version by topping it off with Sprite Zero, which would make it more of a Collins-style. This one does taste pretty good, unlike many low-calorie drinks and I think he has it spot on as well with the recommendation of Jim Beam, but any whiskey will do.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 parts whiskey
  • 1 part lemon juice
  • 4 parts Sprite Zero
  • 1 Tbsp Splenda
  • maraschino cherry for garnish

Preparation:

  • Pour the whiskey, lemon juice and Splenda into a a tall glass 3/4 full of ice.
  • Stir well.
  • Top with Sprite Zero.
  • Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
