The Mile High Manhattan is a loose interpretation of the classic whiskey cocktail. The mix of bourbon, vanilla, and orange is a fantastic combination and the anise is thrown in for a little kick that makes it really interesting.
The anise liqueur can be absinthe or any of its substitutes, just be careful not to overpower the drink with it (it's very easy to do). For less anise flavor you may want to try out the lighter-flavored Sambuca.
