Mile High Manhattan Cocktail - Maker's Mark Bourbon Whiskey

Mile High Manhattan Cocktail

The Mile High Manhattan is the ultra chic variation of the classic whiskey cocktail. The three distilled spirits (other than the anise liqueur) are called for by name for a reason, they are a spectacular marriage of flavor that substitutes just can't touch. So, if you want to try this Manhattan you should have Maker's Mark, Navan and Grand Marnier at hand. The anise liqueur can be any of the absinthe substitutes or the difficult to find (now legal in the US), Lucid. For less anise flavor you may want to try out the lighter-flavored Sambuca.

Ingredients:

  • 4 parts Maker's Mark bourbon
  • 1 part Navan Vanilla Liqueur
  • 1 part Grand Marnier
  • 3 or 4 drops of anise-flavored liqueur

Preparation:

  1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Great Blending of Flavors, Member fkdiii

Hardly a Manhattan, but unique in its own right. What a delightfully pleasurable cocktail. Be carefull not to upset the balance with too much anise.
