This can be a spectacular looking cocktail once you make a few and figure out how to work with the grenadine. It takes practice, but if you pour the thick pomegranate syrup slowly and evenly around the glass you'll get the hang of it and wow those you're serving. In this Sour Sunrise the sweetness of Maker's Mark is offset by the tart lemon juice, which has a bit of orange, yet once the grenadine makes its slow progression into the mix the sweetness comes back.
Ingredients:
- 4 parts Maker's Mark bourbon
- 3 parts fresh squeezed lemon
- 2 parts stabilized simple syrup
- 1 part fresh squeezed orange juice
- grenadine
Preparation:
- Pour the bourbon, simple syrup and juices into a cocktail shaker without ice.
- Shake once.
- Add ice and shake again.
- Strain into cocktail glass.
- Rim the outside of the glass with grenadine to create the sunrise effect.
