The Soul Kiss is an intriguing cocktail that I found in the 1936 Just Cocktails bartending guide and adapted to modern tastes ever so slightly. I don't know how to describe it other than a fancy, fruity whiskey cocktail with a touch of class. The flavors really are all over the board but they come together in such a harmonic way that tantalizes the taste buds. The one further adaptation I would do depending on your taste is to cut back on the orange juice just a little, maybe down to 1/2 ounce. Although the recipe didn't specify, a burnt orange peel is a nice garnish here.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz whiskey
- 1 oz dry vermouth
- 3/4 oz orange juice
- 3/4 oz Dubonnet
Preparation:
- Stir all the ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
