Whispers of the Frost

By Colleen Graham, About.com

Wine Glass

Glass Guide- Wine Glass

When I found the Whispers of the Frost recipe in The Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book it struck my interest for two reasons. The first was the name considering the majority in the book are 1 word and then I saw the ingredients and compared the two. I'd like to think that the mix is perfect for those first days of autumn when a light frost covers everything and that the whiskey, port and sherry are all meant to warm you up. Yet, at the same time the fruit medley garnish (use what you want and have fun) gives that remembrance of the season that just passed. This is a fantastic classic drink that more people should try.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz whiskey
  • 1 1/2 oz sherry
  • 1 1/2 oz port
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • variety of fruit for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Pour the whiskey and wines in a wine goblet filled with ice.
  2. Add sugar to taste.
  3. Stir.
  4. Garnish with a variety of fruit, both in the drink and on the rim.
