Chivas Regal Gold Signature, also known as Chivas Regal 18 year, is a fantastic offering from one of the finest blended Scotch whisky producers. A blend of whiskies (both single malt and grain whiskies) aged at least 18 years, this is a bold, rich sipping whisky that is guaranteed to satisfy even the most picky whisky enthusiast.
On the nose, Chivas Gold Signature offers notes of dark chocolate, dried apricot, oak, hazelnuts, vanilla and honey. There is a light undertone of smoke, not too peaty, perhaps more reminiscent of a recently extinguished campfire. All in all, this is a very complex and compelling bouquet on this whisky.
Body and Palate
With an 18 year old blended scotch whisky, one should expect a relatively full body. Chivas Gold Signature delivers exactly what one hopes, a rich, robust mouthfeel that avoids becoming thick and syrupy. On the palate, a bit of spice and some dark cacao notes appear first, followed by a honeyed feast of apricot, orange marmalade and oak notes before moving into a gently spicy and dry note before easing into the finish.
Chivas Regal Gold Signature finishes beautifully, with a long, warm and rich finish. Notes of cedar, spice and a bit of smoke dance along the palate with hints of vintage tobacco and chocolate emerging.
Chivas Regal Gold Signature would be a great choice for a Scotch enthusiast who enjoys blended Scotch whisky or an nice gift for someone who regularly drinks Chivas Regal 12 year. Dollar for dollar, this is one of the better values in luxury blended Scotch whiskies and a whisky that I personally always keep in stock. Overall, Chivas Regal Gold Signature is a fantastic whisky at a great price and I highly recommend tasting it.
