Highball Glass

Glass Guide- Highball Glass

This cocktail does have the potential to turn you into a zombie - just as the name implies and many Zombie drinkers can attest to. It is reported to have been created by Don the Beachcomber around 1934 and it is still perfect to enjoy for a relaxing happy hour, tropical summer drink or a haunting Halloween party cocktail.

As is common in tiki cocktails, the original recipe is disputed. Below is just one variation from Dale DeGroff's The Craft of the Cocktail, find more in this article on Kaiser Penguin: Zombie Recipe Comparison.

Prep Time: 4 minutes

Total Time: 4 minutes

Yield: 1 Cocktail

Ingredients:

Preparation:

  1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Strain into a highball glass with crushed ice.
  4. Optionally, float the high-proof rum on top of the finished drink.

Wrong, Member ScottDaddy

The Zombie did not debut at the World's Fair in 1939. It debuted at Don the Beachcomber restaurant in Hollywood in 1934. And that recipe is not a recipe for the Zombie.
